Bangi – The neighborhood east of the farm called ‘Bangi-Chichuru,’ where the majority of our workers come from.

Expressive aromas of honeysuckle and spices. Intense flavors of dark chocolate and spices infused with notes of Mexican mole, red fruit, black tea, molasses and black currant.

Gori Gesha
This original heirloom variety replicates the genetic diversity within the Gori Gesha forest. These seeds were harvested in 2011 through our own expedition.

Natural
In this process, the coffee is sun-dried with the whole coffee cherry intact in thin layers on raised African beds. A parabolic plastic cover is used in the evening for increased air-flow to the coffee. The coffee undergoes 18 to 30 total drying days in the natural process.

These special micro-lots account for 15% of the coffee produced by Gesha Village, exhibit superior flavor attributes and excellent cup quality, scoring 88+ on the SCA scale

In the far western reaches of Ethiopia, mere kilometers from the South Sudanese border, lie the dense, wildly sprouting jungles of West Omo zone. It’s a place of stunning natural beauty, where from a high-extending plateau one can take in the expanse of the ancient, sprawling forest. This breathtaking landscape is home to Gesha Village Coffee Estate, the 471-hectare coffee farm we have built from the ground up over the last eleven years. This has been our labor of love, and we’re extremely proud to be producing coffees as awe-inspiring as our surroundings.
The Perfect Spot
For months we searched for the perfect spot—one with high elevation, ample rainfall, temperate climates, and other crucial natural factors needed to produce coffee of excellent quality. We found it in West Omo. The untouched landscape provided us with the unique opportunity to build the coffee farm of our dreams from the ground up. But it also offered us a one-of-a-kind experience: close proximity to the Gori Gesha forest, the variety’s birthplace and site of the Panamanian Geisha discovery in the 1930s. Cultivating the Land
We quickly got to work, harvesting a seed selection of wild Gesha plants from the Gori Gesha forest. With that prized stock in hand, we then spent month after tireless month turning our remote piece of land into a working coffee farm, capable of producing some of the world’s best Gesha coffee. In the process, we have been helping to create a coffee industry in Gesha’s birthplace. Western Ethiopia has historically been largely disconnected from the global specialty-coffee market, but now world-class Gesha coffee is available just a stone’s throw from where the variety originated.

At Gesha Village, we strive for uncompromising quality in each step of cultivation and processing. Our lots are intensely floral and fruity—signature elements of all our coffees—and we offer them through several channels and labels.
We meticulously select the coffees offered in lots through a rigorous cupping process at our coffee lab in Addis Ababa. Following the official protocols of the Specialty Coffee Association, we evaluate the lots over several rounds of cupping to determine how they will be offered to buyers.We have a diverse range of coffees with complex flavors from Gesha Village Coffee Estate offered in our various labels. Rarities- representing only 10% of the total farm production, these exquisite coffees are full of comlex flavours, score 90+ on the SCA scale and super rare. The rarities are the top coffees Gesha Village produces and are frequently chosen for competitions by leading competing baristas on the international stage.
